The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Polls are open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Primary Election
The Primary Election is an election to determine which candidates will qualify for the General Election for a given party. In Iowa you must be a member of the political party of which you wish to vote for in order to participate. This is known as a "closed primary." The primary election is held on the 1st Tuesday following the 1st Monday in June of each even-numbered year.

Absentee Voting
- The first day to submit an absentee ballot request to the Auditor’s Office is Tuesday, March 26
- The first day an absentee ballot may be mailed to a voter is Wednesday, May 15
- Absentee ballot request forms must be received no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, May 20
All absentee ballots must be received by 8:00 pm on Election Day to be considered on time to be counted.
Voters may cast an absentee ballot in person at the Auditor’s Office before any election. Ballots must be voted in the office, you cannot take a ballot home with you. In-person absentee voting is not available on Election Day.
In-person absentee voting begins Wednesday, May 15. Voters must show one of the following forms of ID to vote:
- Iowa Driver’s License
- Iowa Non-Operator ID
- Iowa Voter Identification Card
- U.S. Military or Veteran ID
- U.S. Passport
- Tribal ID card or document
