Primitive and Equestrian Camping

Lime Creek Conservation Area (pdf) - 3501 Lime Creek Road Mason City, IA 50401 There are two locations at the Lime Creek Conservation Area designated for primitive camping. The cost is $1.00/night/tent. Firewood is provided at the campsite. Equipment is carried in and waste is carried out. Campers must pre-register at the CGCCB office Mon.-Fri. between the hours of 8:00 am-4:00 pm.

Shellrock River Preserve (pdf) - 19316 Yucca Ave. Nora Springs, IA 50458
Both primitive and equestrian camping are available at the Shellrock River Preserve. Fires are allowed only in designated fire rings. Rustic toilet facilities, two small shelter houses and hitching posts are provided. Campers are responsible for removing all waste materials. There is no charge for camping at this location.

Quiet hours will be observed from 10:30 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. at all camp areas.
