A "virtual geocaching" program has been initiated by the Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board and is now available for public participation.
Virtual geocaching involves locating not a cache, but a specific landmark, feature, park sign, etc. on a county park or wildlife area. Participants can choose which landmark they would like to locate using their own personal GPS device.
Specific Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) coordinates for, and clues about, landmarks are provided. A question or request for a description of the landmark is included as part of the challenge. Successful location of a landmark can be verified at the Lime Creek Nature Center during business hours, or by mail or email. Participants that successfully locate and verify ten landmarks will receive a virtual geocaching T-shirt for a $15 fee.
This program is sponsored by the Lime Creek Nature Center and Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board. Please call 641-423-5309 for more information.
