  1. Emergency Financial Assistance:

    A. Type of assistance: rent, utilities, groceries, & burial

    B. Eligibility Criteria: Honorable discharged, 90 days of active duty for other than training, citizen of Cerro Gordo County & meet income/asset guidelines, bonafide emergency - steps taken to prevent reoccurrence, possess valid discharge/DD 214

  2. Grave markers:

    Metal markers are available for the grave of each veteran who is buried within the limits of the county.

  3. Coordinate transportation to Des Moines VA hospital.

    The DAV van travels to the Des Moines VA hospital Monday-Thursday (except holidays) if any Veteran has requested a ride. The van is driven strictly by volunteers. The operating costs are paid for by donations. To schedule a ride on the van, call (641)421-3085 at least two duty days prior to your appointment. Please have the following information available when you call: phone number you can be reached, date & time of your appointments, clinic you are scheduled to visit, the last four digits of your social security number and what town you are coming from so it can be determined where you will be picked up.
