Walls go up on law enforcement center

MASON CITY - With a delay on the delivery of roof trusses, construction crews at the Cerro Gordo County Law Enforcement Center have been working on brick walls.

"Roof trusses have been on backorder," said Cerro Gordo County Sheriff Kevin Pals. "So consequently, they've been able to put up more walls this fall than originally planned."

Pals said the nice weather has allowed contractors to stay on schedule.

Delivery of roof trusses is scheduled for early December. Pals said the east side of the building will be covered first.

"They hope to get everything enclosed so they can do work inside during the winter months," he said.

The complex, which is slated for completion by December 2007, includes a 140-bed jail, Sheriff's Department offices, dispatch center, courtroom and space for emergency management in a 15-acre site at the northwest corner of Lake Avenue and 263rd Street, part of the former Cerro Gordo County Farm.
