MASON CITY - With site preparation already started, a groundbreaking ceremony for the Cerro Gordo County Law Enforcement Center will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Board of Supervisors and Sheriff's Department officials will hold the ceremony at the 17196 Lark Ave. construction site, south of Highway 122, on land that was the former Cerro Gordo County Farm.
Dean Snyder Construction of Clear Lake bid construction of the project at $11.75 million.
In 2005, voters approved bonding of up to $13.5 million for the law enforcement center.
The low bid by Snyder allows for a $214,000 contingency fund to cover proposed additions, according to Dave Roederer of StrataVision Consulting Group Inc., the Des Moines-based firm coordinating project design and construction.
