The Mason City Noon Rotary Club awarded its Bill Killpack Public Service Above Self Awards at their October 30 meeting. Ken Kolek, District Governor of Rotary District 5970, presented the awards. Awards were presented to Fran Templeton, Office Manager for Cerro Gordo County Case Management and Pam Osgood, Manager of the Mason City Municipal Airport.
The awards, presented annually by the Mason City Noon Rotary Club, were renamed this year in honor of the late Bill Killpack, longtime Rotary member and former district governor. Mr. Killpack is credited with the idea of the Club honoring public employees.
Fran Templeton was recognized for her character, kindness and dedication to her clients, many of whom have developmental disabilities. She also contributes her time to the Community Kitchen and ARC (formerly Association of Retarded Citizens), receiving the ARC Professional of the Year Award in 2001. Templeton has been employed by the County for 18 years. Templeton was nominated by the Director of Case Management, Mary Beth Nelson.
Pam Osgood was recognized for her management philosophy of respect and hospitality. Her commitment to excellence has resulted in the airport receiving the Federal Aviation Administration's Central Regional Safety Award for three consecutive years without a single deficiency during the annual inspections. Osgood has been employed at the airport for 15 years. Osgood was nominated by her assistant, Sandy Lee.
Previous receipients of the award from Cerro Gordo County were Pat Welch (2004) and Heather Mathre (2005).
